THE Advertiser is looking to give away thousands of pounds to charities in its patch.

We want local groups and organisations to benefit from the Gannett Foundation – the charitable arm of Gannett Co Inc, the parent company of Newsquest Media Group and owner of your Advertiser.

The foundation supports charities with educational projects, those which help improve neighbourhoods, youth groups, those which offer assistance to disadvantaged or disabled people, or help with environmental conservation and cultural enrichment.

Typically the grants are between £5,000 and £10,000, although more modest applications are welcome.

The trustees who will decide on the successful applications will be looking for projects that demonstrate good planning, oversight and financial responsibility.

Grant applications will only be accepted by email. Charities must submit emailed copies of their most recent financial accounts, any supporting materials and details concerning the overall aims of the charity.

Each nomination will be judged on its own merits at the absolute discretion of the trustees, whose decision is final.

Requests for grants must be submitted on the approved application form, which can be obtained by emailing paul.walker@midlands.newsquest.co.uk or by downloading it from our website. Simply hit the Gannett icon on our Home Page or see the related content panel alongside this article.

Any applications which do not meet the criteria or which do not follow our rules and procedures will be rejected.

The completed form and supporting documents should be returned to editor Paul Walker by email by 5pm on Friday, September 14.
