PLANT lovers have a choice of three different gardens to visit that are open over one weekend for the National Gardens Scheme (NGS).

The beautiful outdoor spaces will be open in Droitwich on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15.

On both days, New House Farm in Cutnall Green will be open for those who missed the June open days.

New House Farm is an acre of country garden that features some clever design ideas created by current owner Rachel Barnes, who is an interior designer and who has used her skills to take the interior design outside.

Last year, which was her first year of opening for the NGS, she showed many very innovative creations.

New House Farm, Kidderminster Road, Cutnall Green, will be open from 10am until 5pm both days with adult admission being £3.50. The on-site design and craft shop and tea room will also be open to visitors throughout the weekend opening.

If, however, your taste is for more formal gardens in a grander setting, then Hanbury Hall Gardens will also be open for the NGS during that weekend, from 11 am until 4pm both days with admission charges being £6.50 for children and £3.50 for adults (National Trust members are admitted free).

Hanbury Hall garden is a re-creation of an 18th century formal garden by George London. There is a parterre, fruit garden, wilderness, mushroom house, orangery and ice house. In addition there is also the opportunity to meet the gardeners and see behind the scenes in the Walled Garden.

At the opposite end of the gardening size scale is Hiraeth, in Showell Road, Droitwich. This garden has been created by owners Sue and John Fletcher. It is a traditional cottage garden with some unusual plants, herbaceous borders, hostas, ferns, arches, a pool and waterfall, together with a 200 year old style, and some wood and metal sculptures.

Hiraeth will be open on Sunday, July 15 from 2 - 6 pm, admission £3 for adults (children free) and there will be plants and refreshments for sale.
