A TEAM of young footballers were amongst a group of German visitors to Droitwich Spa.

People from the picturesque dwelling of Arzbach, near Droitwich’s twin town Bad Ems, arrived for an annual exchange visit on Wednesday, June 6.

Droitwich Spa Boys & Girls Football Club takes it in turns with its German counterpart to arrange a visit each year.

This is the sixth year the exchange has taken place since 2007. This year it was the turn of Arzbach’s residents to visit Droitwich.

The group of about 50 visitors was greeted at Droitwich Spa Cricket Club with tea and cakes to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The following day the German visitors took a trip up to Ragley Hall.

Teams from both countries then took part in the tradition football tournament on Friday, June 8.

The teams were a mixture of Germans playing amongst English and girls rising to challenge the boys.

Every participant received a medal for taking part before being treated to a performance at the town’s Norbury Theatre that evening.

A party of 140 people crammed into Salwarpe Village Hall for an evening of barn dancing on Saturday, June 9.

The final evening accumulated with the arrival of two flat screen TVs in order to watch Germany play Portugal in the opening rounds of the European Championship.
