MUSIC lovers will be spoilt for choice after it was announced 90 bands will descend on Malvern for the first running of a multi-venue festival.

Malvern Rocks, which runs from Friday to Sunday, August 3-5 in 16 venues across the length and breadth of the town, is set to be launched at the Great Malvern Hotel, in Graham Road by Tom Hingley, the former lead singer of the Inspiral Carpets.

Among those confirmed on the almost endless list of county talent joining the fun are Richard Clarke and the Rafters, Stompin’ on Spiders, Tallulah Fix, The Misers, The Roving Crows, Vo & Tyler and The Pewke Band.

The roster continues with recognisable names such as Becky Rose, Matt Woosey, Jenny Hallam, Vault of Eagles and Skewwhiff.

Other venues taking part include the Mount Pleasant Hotel on Belle Vue Terrace, the Morgan in Clarence Road and Carnival Records on Church Street.

In addition to trawling the town’s pubs and night spots for the hottest gigs, revellers can enjoy workshops run by Worcester School of Rock at the Malvern Youth Centre in Albert Road North.

The event will also be raising funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice, who provide care for life limited and life threatened children, young people and their families.

They currently support more than 630 children and more than 880 families, including those who are bereaved.
