AN Evesham business that has received two fake £20 notes has warned others to be on the lookout.

Selahattin Ozguc, who owns the Evesham Kebab and Pizza House in Port Street, said he usually spotted fake notes over the counter but some had been accepted during delivery payments.

“We received two fake £20 notes on Sunday, June 17, from deliveries,” said Mr Ozguc.

“I know people try to hand them over the counter but I realised they were fake.

“The police say there is little they can do as the people say they don’t realise they are fake when they try to use them.”

West Mercia Police said traders should be on their guard and use whatever devices were at their disposal.

A spokesperson from the police said: “We would ask people to check notes before they accept them as payment.

“If they believe they have been passed a fake note they should keep hold of it if possible and contact the police.”
