POLICE have issued an e-fit of a man they wish to trace in connection with a distraction burglary in Droitwich Spa.

On Wednesday, May 30, a woman in her 70s who lives in The Dale was called on by a man claiming to be from the water board. He asked her to run the bath and keep her hands on the taps, leaving the man alone in other areas of the house for around ten minutes.

After the man had left, it was discovered that £190 had been stolen from her purse.

Detective Constable Pete Ryland from Worcester CID is investigating the incident. He said: "Thankfully, we were able to recover the amount of money stolen from the Police Community Fund and reimburse the victim for her loss.

"The fund is a small charity largely made up of voluntary contributions from the salaries of officers and staff. It provides help to victims of crime in hardship cases and also makes contributions towards community projects.

"I am pleased that we have been able to help the victim in this way but the offender is still outstanding and needs to be brought to justice.

"We are releasing this e-fit of a man who was seen in the area in the time leading up to the burglary.

"He may have vital information about the incident so if you know or think you know who this man is, then please contact us as soon as possible.

"Alternatively, if you recognise this image as being yourself then we also need to hear from you so that we can eliminate you from our inquiries."

Anyone with information about this incident can call Det Con Ryland on 0300 333 3000, quoting 724S 310512 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
