A WOMAN who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year is making the most of her “second chance” by taking part in tomorrow’s Race for Life.

Sarah Bowring, aged 45, of Ledbury, has now been given the all-clear and is determined to make the most of it.

She is now working through a ‘bucket list’ – a wish list of things to do before ‘kicking the bucket’ – that she compiled while feeling at her lowest.

She has already flown a kite on the Malvern Hills, grown a vegetable patch, cultivated flowers, rejoined WVR running club in Hereford and is now doing the Race for Life at Worcester Racecourse.

Ms Bowring, who works for John Goodwin Estate Agents in Ledbury, also plans to do a parachute jump, visit Alaska and do the London Marathon.

She said: “I had breast cancer treatment in 2011 which was a huge shock to me at the time but probably the wake-up call I needed in my life.

“It has been a rollercoaster journey for me, with some tears but a lot of smiles and funny memories to make the experience a more pleasant one.

“I just want to get on with life now I have been given a second chance.

“I never want to sit on a bench when I am older thinking about what I had and hadn’t done in life.

“I am no longer frightened of what the future holds as I am busy living in the present.”

Ms Bowring will be running the Race for Life under the banner of JG’s Joggers with a colleague and a friend as a token of thanks to Mr Goodwin for his support.

Mr Goodwin, owner of John Goodwin estate agents, said: ”On behalf of myself and everyone at John Goodwin, we wish Sarah good luck in the Race for Life and would encourage as many people as possible to support this worthwhile cause.”

To sponsor Ms Bowring, visit the John Goodwin offices in Malvern, Colwall, Upton or Ledbury or visit raceforlifesponsor me.org/jgs-joggers.
