THE town’s history society is set to hold a talk on the last mother of pearl factory in Britain.

Droitwich History and Archaeology Society will host the event on Wednesday, July 4 from 7.30pm Before plastic buttons were mass produced, buttons were produced from shells.

They were an expensive item and became part of the decoration of fashionable garments.

The talk, given by George Hook, will be held in the John Corbett room of Droitwich Community Hall, Heritage Way.

Entry costs £2 for members and £3 for visitors.
