AFTER parties to celebrate one Queen, people in one Vale of Evesham village are preparing to honour another. With the Jubilee weekend now behind us, attention has turned to tomorrow’s Offenham Wake. This year’s Wake Queen has been named as 12-year-old Holly Witheford and she will be prominent in the village celebrations.
The traditional event will be opened at 1pm by a peal of bells in the village church. This will be followed by a flower service in the church before a procession to the village maypole for dancing. The afternoon also includes a street fair, live music and lots of food and drink.
