A ROCK and roll starlet from Worcestershire is dreaming of the big time after being invited to perform her two biggest gigs to date.

Carina Powell, age 13, from Wadborough, near Pershore, only started playing the bass a year ago but has already performed a solo slot at the Worcester Music Festival and is finding herself in high demand with her band Fools Glory.

The five-piece, whose other members are based in south Birmingham, are celebrating being offered their first headline gig at Birmingham’s Roadhouse venue, as well as securing a slot performing to thousands at the Glastonbudget festival in Leicestershire over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.

Carina’s mum Sonia Dorrell said her daughter could not wait for her performances.

“They will be her biggest gigs to date so she is really excited. She has only been playing the bass for a very short amount of time but she has proven to be a natural talent and has been described as exceptional by a number of tutors and musicians.

“It is definitely her dream to become a professional musician. She lives and breathes it.”

Fools Glory’s headline at the Roadhouse on Thursday, June 14. The band has also been asked to perform in Birmingham as part of the city’s Olympic torch celebration on Saturday, June 30.
