IT is all change for Worcestershire County Council.

Councillor Rob Adams, who held the position of vice-chairman during 2011/12, was recently voted in as its chairman for 2012/13.

He succeeds councillor Ed Moore.

Coun Adams faces a busy year as he combines the role of chairman with his 'other life' running a 500 acre tenanted farm at White Ladies Aston.

On election to the post of chairman, Coun Adams said: “I am delighted to have been elected as Chairman to Worcestershire County Council.

"This promises to be a busy year for the county with the visit from the Queen, the Olympic Torch visiting Worcestershire, the opening of the Hive and the signing of the Armed Forces Community Covenant."

During his year he will carry out a whole host of civic, community and ceremonial duties as well as chairing meetings of full council.

He added: “I am looking forward to the many fantastic opportunities to showcase Worcestershire to the wider world.”

Councillor Gordon Yarranton was elected vice-chairman.
