Popular Lights of Love evening moved to bigger venue

THE popular St Richard’s Hospice Lights of Love evening in Droitwich will take place at a new bigger venue this year.

The special Lights of Love evening will take place at 6pm on Wednesday, November 30 at Droitwich Spa Methodist Church, Amphlett House, Worcester Road.

Pupils from Dodderhill School will sing and the hospice chaplain, Rev David Knight, will lead the service, which will be followed with refreshments.

Readers are invited to dedicate a light for love – whether in memory of a loved one or for someone who will be absent this Christmas but is still in your thoughts. For a donation of your choice, a light will shine on the St Richard’s Hospice Christmas Tree in Worcester throughout December.

St Richard’s Hospice senior community fundraiser Alison Parkes said: “Our Lights of Love event in Droitwich is so popular we have decided to move to a bigger venue which also has parking close by. “ So far this year 2,200 names have already been dedicated across Worcestershire raising £20,000 in donations for our care.

She added: "These services are deeply appreciated by the people who come along - many of whom are the families and friends of people who are, or who have been, cared for by St Richard's.”

The names of loved ones will be displayed on the boards surrounding the tree in St Andrew's Spire and in a Book of Thanksgiving placed in Worcester Cathedral, The Priory in Malvern and Droitwich Library throughout December.

Those who donate will also receive a special photo decoration that can be hung on the Christmas tree at home.
