HOW I sympathise with Mrs Pengelly (Letters, November 2) with regard to thoughtless neighbours letting off fireworks without warning and frightening pets.

However, our problem is slightly different.

Our neighbours are wonderfully considerate and thoughtful

The trouble starts with some kids with nothing better to do.

I run the Stourport branch of the Sunnyside Guinea Pig Trust, my friend being involved with the Churchill/Hagley branch.

We rescue and care for sick and unwanted guinea pigs (and anything else with fur or feathers).

Fireworks are frequently thrown into my garden by young people on their way to and from the Memorial Park, terrifying and stressing all my animals and birds.

Last week, teenagers let off fireworks by my friend's house.

She lives in a secluded lane miles from anywhere.

This leads me to suspect that these young persons picked their target and acted with premeditated cruelty and malice.

The next day two budgerigars were dead and the rescued ex-battery hens refused to lay for three days - all through fright.

A thought for parents: do you know what your kids are up to?
