A BROMSGROVE man who had never run more than three miles before has raised more than £1,000 for a school by finishing the Great North Run.
Andy Johnson, from Broad Street, Sidemoor, handed over £1,079 to Chadsgrove School, in Catshill, on Monday.
The sponsorship money will go towards computer equipment for the special needs children at the school. Andy completed the 13-mile run from Newcastle to South Shields last month.
He said: "It was a chance to keep my fitness up and doing it for the school gave me motivation.
"The run was all right, but I thought the last mile along the seafront would never end."
