A BROMSGROVE Rally Driver' hopes of success with his new car were dashed by six inches of snow.

Nathan Crewe and co-driver Chris Clifford made their debut in the new MG ZR at the second round of the raceandrally.com 1400 Championship in Cockermouth, Cumbria, on Saturday March 9.

The unexpected snow left many competitors struggling but the Cottrill Transport backed team managed to put in some good early stage times.

But the car slid off the road during the fifth stage and remained stuck in deep snow for the rest of the race.

The task was made more difficult for the team as it was Crewe's first competitive outing with front wheel drive MG after being so used to his old rear wheel drive Mark Two Ford Escort.
