A STRANGER who climbed into the passenger seat of a car stuck in traffic, demanded to be taken to the railway station and left £30 with the shocked occupants.

Kidderminster police say the female driver in her 30s, was scared of what might happen if she refused to give the man a lift.

Her two children were sitting in the back of the copper-coloured Honda HRV when the man climbed in on Monday at around 4pm.

The car was stationary in traffic in Coventry Street, Kidderminster.

The man did not use any threats of violence and, when they arrived at the station, he handed two £10 notes to the children and placed two £5 notes on the dashboard.

"Our advice is always that people keep car doors locked when they're driving in town," said Caroline Schubert, spokeswoman for Kidderminster police.

"This was an alarming experience for the woman and her children, who felt that their personal safety was threatened."

Anyone who witnessed the incident taking place is asked to call police on 01562 820888.
