A FORMER Malvern College student bought his ex-girlfriend gifts using credit card details obtained from his workplace.

Gavin Charlesworth bought flowers, chocolates and a teddy bear for the girl, a fellow student at the college.

Charlesworth, aged 20, ordered the gifts on the telephone using details he had taken from customers while working at a telesales company.

Mark Soper, prosecuting, said the offence happened last March after his girlfriend finished their three-year relationship.

The items he ordered cost a total of £187.

Charlesworth, who now lives in Hackney, London, admitted obtaining property by deception at Worcester Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Mark Lister, defending, said Charlesworth was of good character and was suffering from a serious state of emotional turmoil.

"He let his otherwise good judgement slip and he committed the offence," he said. "It is extremely unlikely to be repeated."
