BULB SHOW: Saturday, March 9 was an incredibly windy day in Inkberrow but in spite of this the Inkberrow and District Horticultural Society's Spring Bulb Show took place in great style. The village hall was filled with the colours and scents of Spring.
The 18 exhibitors was double the number of the previous year with more than twice the number of entries as in 2001. Pot-grown daffodils and hyacinths, also specimen daffodils, were well represented together with several amaryllis and examples of flowering shrubs.
The chairman, Tom Hodgkinson, thanked the committee and he congratulated everyone whose entries had combined to make such an excellent show. The judge, Mr George Briney, had commented favourably on the standard of the blooms.
The trophies were awarded as follows: The Ansell Challenge Cup for the highest number of points in the bulb section and The Society Challenge Cup for the highest number of points in the show were both won by Mrs Dot Hunt. The Seymour Cup for the Best in Show was awarded to Mrs Pat Atkin.
