WHEN I came to live in Norton over 40 years ago it was a thriving village community.
We had a school, caf, shop, youth club and social club.
Now it has all disappeared.
The final blow was the social club being forced to close down.
The first anyone knew about it being sold was an article in the Journal announcing that the site including the allotments and football pitch had been sold for housing development. Does Norton need anymore houses with such lack of services.
Part of the land on which the club stands was given by the Byrd family to the villagers to be used for community services and there is also a covenant on this part of the site to this effect.
How can houses be regarded as leisure facilities for villagers?
