A FORMER life-saving medical service is to give hope to people suffering with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Wyre Forest Flying Doctors, which folded last year, is to give £5,500 to the Kemp Hospice fund.

The hospice is busily raising cash for a state-of-the-art £2.2 million centre.

And the flying doctors, who rushed out to more than 3,000 accidents in 20 years, have used the bulk of their remaining funds to back the cause.

District doctor Barrie Davies, who founded the service, said the Kemp appeal was a worthy fund to the leave money to.

He said: "We would like to thank Wyre Forest people for their magnificent support over the years."

Another £500 will be handed to the Bromsgrove flying doctor team for emergency pagers.

And remaining equipment will be given to district medical practices and doctors for emergency procedures.
