ATHLETICS: Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club have been crowned Birmingham Cross Country League Division Two champions.

Their second place in the fourth and final race of the series secured them the title.

Simon Wilkinson was one of the running heroes, finishing first for the club and fourth overall in 30 minutes 14 seconds.

Alan Jackson was second home for Kidderminster and Stourport and seventh overall in 31-04.

Completing the team places were Tom Kenderdine, 31-08, Rob Chrzan, 33-11, Steve Poulton, 33-13, Kevin Green, 33-59.

They were followed by Ian Townsend, 34-18, Steve Gould, 34-21 in his first race for a year, Gary Corbett, 35-14, Rob Minton, 35-34, Graham McMillan, 36-58 and Andy Millwood, 37-04.

Kidderminster, on 464 points, were promoted along with Severn AC on 619 and Northampton on 646.

Jackson and England international Matt Vaux-Harvey won the top athlete awards for the four-race series and over three races respectively.

The English National Championships at Bristol provided top class competition for the senior men's team.

Jackson finished first for the club and was 84th overall, Kenderdine 156, Vaux-Harvey 269 and McMillan 699 out of the 1,220 finishers.

In the Gloucester Cross Country League, Matt Grainger finished first in the U-17 Men's group.

Townsend was second in the senior men's category, Liz Gould won the senior women's category and the senior women's team came third.
