SNOOKER: Pockets Snooker Club is among the first 25 clubs to be given recognition by World Snooker as an accredited centre.
The sport's governing body hopes the Kidderminster centre will be part of a network recognised for high-quality facilities and committed personnel.
It will concentrate on coaching and competitions with the aim of increasing participation levels and improving playing standards.
Church Street-based Pockets, which first opened its doors in 1982, boasts a membership of nearly 800 and will organise activities throughout the year.
Owner Allan Atkinson said: "We are delighted to be associated with World Snooker and look forward to playing our part in developing snooker in the area and creating champions of the future."
One of the initiatives are the Red-Black Ball Awards, a step-by-step learning programme into the sport.
