HORSE RACING: Major Benefit provided Kidderminster trainer Penny Grainger and jockey Michael Keel with their third success of the season at Saturday's Harkaway Club fixture in Chaddesley Corbett.

There were 13 runners in the Combined but the impressive five-year-old, in the colours of Nick Shutts, is yet to experience defeat, having been successful at the South Herefordshire meeting at Garnons.

The Shropshire-trained Karzhang won Division Two of the eight-year-old and upwards maiden, after being runner-up on his previous outing at Weston Park.

Gary Hanmer was content to track the leaders until sending his mount in pursuit from the 12th then storming into the lead with three fences to jump.

Karzhang was previously in training with Willie Jenks but is now in the care of Caroline Robinson who is looking after the nine-year-old horse for her father, Jeremy.

Asthefellasays, trained on the Welsh borders, got the better of a protracted battle with Rain Delay in the Restricted. Pam Sykes trains the winner for her daughter Angela.
