CYCLING: Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club's 15-year-old Liam Preece claimed a great third place in only his second road race.
Preece, racing in the 20-lap 35km race around the Milton Keynes Bowl, held his nerve in a bunch sprint to finish high up the order.
The winner went clear after 10 laps and eventually took the honours by 30 seconds.
Fellow club riders Paul Prince, Rob Holbeche and Phil Blacker all rode the 37-mile Evesham Vale Road Race.
Prince and Blacker broke away on the first of five laps but the pace of the bunch behind caught them soon after.
On the third lap, a serious crash at the back of the bunch on a 50mph descent caused the race to be stopped and then abandoned.
The Air Ambulance had to be called to treat a few broken bones.
