WORCESTER City striker Mark Shepherd is hoping to be back in training tonight after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old has not played since the beginning of February when he came on to rescue a point with a late goal against Salisbury City.

"I aim to start training tonight but I will have to see how it reacts because it is still slightly painful," he said.

"If all goes well I might be able to be back in action in a couple of weeks."

Meanwhile, City's reserve team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Feckenham in the semi-finals of the Worcestershire Senior Urn last night.

The match was played at Redditch United's Valley Stadium but despite the presence of first teamers Leon Jackson, Jon Holloway, Paul Wyatt and Dwaine McFarlane, City could not make a breakthrough.

"We battered them in the second-half but just could not score and their goalkeeper pulled off a series of good saves," said City's reserve team manager Geoff Ashby.
