SOUTH Warwickshire churches will resound to the sound of music this year.
The Concerts In Rural Churches has announced its new programme for 2002, featuring a special Queen's Golden Jubilee Concert.
The concert is a harp recital by soloist Jemima Phillips at Our Blessed Lady, in Queen Street, Halford, on June 1 at 7.30pm.
The season begins on April 20 with a concert at St Gregory's, in Tredington, in memory of the late Meg Rivers. Called Rhapsody in Red, the concert features the Ralph Allin Trio.
The trio consists of gipsy jazz violinist Ralph Allin, electric cello and bass player Jadie Carey and pianist Al Gurr.
Two concerts take place on July 2 as part of the now well-established Shipston Proms, which runs from June 26 to July 6. The first at 2pm is a special concert at St Edmund's Church, in Shipston, for Shipston High School, followed by a repeat at 7.30pm.
St Edmund's again hosts a flute concert at 7.30pm on July 27 as part of the Stratford International Flute Festival.
Come September 7 it is the turn of St Peter and St Paul's Church, at Long Compton, where the folk duo, fiddler Luke Goss and accordion player Oli Wilson-Dixon will perform.
The classical Trio Mercurio play at St Mary's, in Tysoe, on October 19 and the concert season culminates on November 23 with A Musical Evening with Richard Emms and Friends.
Admission to all concerts costs £7 with concessions at £4.50. A full-price season ticket costs £35.
