A WORCESTER woman will be joined by her three sisters from around the world when she runs the London Marathon to raise money for the Lymphatic Cancer Charity - 12 years after their mother died of the disease.

Caroline Langston suffered another blow when her boyfriend's father was diagnosed with the condition nine months ago.

"Lymphatic cancer is just so common, it is more common than leukaemia," said Miss Langston of Medway Road in Ronkswood.

Miss Langston's three sisters, Kate, Belinda and Tamsin, aged between 21 and 29 will join her in the marathon on Sunday, April 14.

Kate is flying in from Philadelphia in the States to take part in the event. She will be running to raise money for the Lymphoma and Leukaemia Association in America.

Belinda, from Aylesbury, is running for the Association for the Blind and Tamsin, from Leicester, for MacMillan's Cancer Research.

"It takes up a lot of your time," said Caroline, a debt collector, who now runs between 30 and 34 miles a week.

The 29 year-old has been in serious training since November last year and this is the first time she has run a marathon.

"I am an ex-smoker and I never used to do any running. I couldn't run up the stairs without getting out of breath. I love it. It is the greatest stress relief.

"We are all aiming for between five and five-and-a-half hours. I can't wait, it's just so close now."

Caroline is one of 30 people running for the Lymphatic Cancer Charity and is hoping to raise more than £1,000.

"The sponsorship is going quite well. I am around the £800 mark."
