A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with handling stolen goods.

Police caught Shelly Walsh and two young girls with goods valued at more than £350 last December.

"Three girls were reported acting suspiciously on a stairwell in All Saints car park on Saturday, December 6," said Sally Hill, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court.

"She was with two other girls, one aged 15 and one 16 and there was a great deal of property at their feet and some discarded in bushes nearby."

The haul included hair clips, hair bands and cosmetics from Claire's Accessories, curtains and clothes from New Look.

Barry Newton, defending, said Walsh, aged 20, had neither taken part in the thefts or acted as a lookout for the girls.

Unconditional bail

"She did admit that she knew the goods were stolen," said Mr Newton.

"But there's no evidence at all that she was involved in the theft.

"The CCTV camera does show her effectively assisting in the disposal of these items.

"She collected the goods that she had paid for but that involved delving into the bag with the stolen goods."

Walsh, of Maple Avenue, Tolladine, admitted three counts of handling stolen goods and asked for three other offences to be taken into consideration.

Magistrates granted her unconditional bail to appear before them again on Thursday, April 18 for sentencing.
