EVERY once in a while a special event is planned, and Friday, March 15 was one such date. A supper dance to raise money for Cancer Research (UK) was organised by Mr Norman Pittman and his family after his wife Gaynor's untimely death last April. In excess of 160 people attended, Bushley Village Hall was full to capacity. The evening commenced at 8.30pm by which time the dance floor was full and it remained that way until the end, the old swingers have mush staying power! A lovely cold supper was served before dancing commenced again. At approximately 11.30pm there was an auction of some goods, which were donated to the cause, followed by a magnificent raffle consisting of approximately 10 prizes, again all donated. Dancing then continued until the early hours. Mr Music Man - Geoff George, provided the music, which was enjoyed by all who attended. This was a wonderful evening raising in excess of £1,700 for this worthy cause. Congratulations to Norman and his helpers for an exceptional evening, which will be long remembered.

On Saturday, March 9 there were people wandering around all over the village, but it was in a very good cause, the Clean Up Litter Day. Much rubbish was collected from around the roadways, verges and paths within the village boundary, I fact it is amazing how much litter there is which thankfully is not always visible. Well done to all those folks who turned out on a very windy day, what a pity, through thoughtlessness this chore becomes a necessary task.
