FRANTIK have been having gig-goers in a whirl with their heady combination of nu rock and pop sounds.

The four-piece from Hereford, who describe themselves as sounding somewhere between Blink 182, Wheatus, and Sum 41, are hoping to go on to bigger things after recording their latest single.

The band, who have self-financed the single, to be called She's So Keen or Dream On, are hoping to hit the big time after recording their song in Rockfield Studios, Monmouth.

"It's one of the top studios in the country. Stereophonics and Oasis have recorded their albums there,'' says Frantik frontman Robby.

"We've just done three days there and are looking for a record deal."

NVA Ltd, in Hereford, has shown an interest in Frantik and has given them some money towards recent recording costs.

Frantik, who formed in 1998, are appealing for county companies to sponsor them by financing a video for their new single.

They will need between £8,000 and £10,000 to ensure that the video will be of top MTV quality.

"We're offering companies the chance to support us with the video," says Robby, originally from Liverpool.

"We're an original band who don't do covers and never have."

Frantik consist of Robby, singer and rhythm guitarist; Chunk, lead guitarist; Ian on drums, and Spartacus on bass.

The band have quite a history behind them for they won Battle of the Bands in South Wales early last year and have had radio play in Liverpool and on BBC Hereford and Worcester.

Frantik have recorded an EP, Ignorance is Bliss, and a single, Sweet Lady, which are on sale in Tesco, Hereford city centre.

They have also played at three SNAP events, organised by Crimestoppers and aimed at persuading youngsters to say no to drugs.

They were even supported by Toploader in Liverpool.

"We'd been booked in to play The Venue in Liverpool and Toploader were looking for a gig in the city," says Robbie.

"They got a gig there as a warm-up for their next day gig in Glasgow.

"They enjoyed us and said they liked our stuff."
