A FAIR organised by Upton-upon-Severn Town Council to reveal the "hidden" companies trading in Upton to its townsfolk has been hailed as a success by organisers and stallholders.

"There were 220 people who came through the door," said town councillor Simon Wilkinson, who helped organise the event.

"We were very pleased. We had never done anything like that before."

He said the companies that had taken part, which included Midland Communications, Permadoor, Bio-Diagnostics and Stratascan, had set up the stands they would normally use at trade fairs, and where possible had sent staff to represent them.

"We were very pleased with the efforts they had put in, and the interest they showed," he added.

"It has helped put products to names we see on lorries going through the town."

Keith Davis, managing director of Midland Communica-tions, said the event had been "a great success".

He said that although the firm's primary concern was to expand its business, it also ranked contact with Upton people as a very high priority, and that the event had allowed staff to talk not only to locals but to workers at other companies in the town.
