ONE of Upton-upon-Severn's most distinctive signs is to be allowed to stand without being granted "advertising consent".
Paul "Rev" Mitchell, owner of A4104-based Harley-Davidson specialist Rev's Hog Motor-cycles, applied to Malvern Hills District Council for permission to keep the large, orange sign outside his business.
Council officers had informed him of the need for an application after receiving a complaint about the sign.
As well as asking for advertising consent, Mr Mitchell repositioned both the signs outside his business.
The head of planning David Murray confirmed his actions in moving them had removed any need for MHDC approval.
The application caused controversy when it came before Upton Town Council.
Members criticised its size, and commented that people visiting the town might think its name is Rev's Hog.
However, a petition was drawn up and submitted to Malvern Hills District Council in support of the sign.
