BUILDERS are set to move into Upton-upon-Severn Baptist Church next month to start work on a £220,000 renovation project - if issues concerning access to the rear of the site can be resolved.

The town council has responded to a complaint from a member of the public who saw a sign put up last month giving notice that Oak Row was to be closed to the public for a week starting March 8 while building work took place.

The notice was withdrawn after the town council voiced concern to Worcestershire County Council.

Existing permission to upgrade the Old Street building, extend the kitchen facilities and upgrade the church hall runs out on April 24, and an extension has been applied for. If work starts before that date an extension will not be necessary.
