I AM currently researching the history of the Malvern to Tewkesbury railway.

Information on this railway appears scant but the little I have learned from an old pamphlet is very interesting.

According to this literature the Tewkesbury and Malvern railway was opened on May 16, 1864, running to Malvern Wells, later being extended to Great Malvern.

Apparently the section between Upton and Malvern closed on December 1, 1952. All passenger services between Upton and Tewkesbury were withdrawn in August, 1961. The line between Tewkesbury and Ashchurch survived for goods traffic until November, 1964.

I know there was a terminus at Great Malvern station and that there were two station masters, one for the T & M Railway (and probably the main Hereford line) was in Great Malvern and the Great Western Station master was at Malvern Link.

Presumably the two railways shared the mainline as far as Malvern Wells junction. There were two stations, the GWR station being named The Common and the T & M station called Hanley Road.

I can't see any trace of a station on Hanley Road. Also, how did the railway cross this road and the road running down to the crossroads at Welland?

Any information from people who may remember would be very greatly appreciated.
