STUDENTS at Malvern Girls' College spent a day campaigning for an end to global poverty last week, with some help from an African visitor.
All 54 girls in the Lower Fifth form, aged 15, took part in exercises which encouraged them to consider why poverty exists as it does and how the West might be part of the causes.
They also learned about international trade rules and the World Trade Organisation, poverty statistics and speaking out and campaigning against poverty.
As part of this, they sent letters to major companies and politicians based on their discoveries during the day.
Special guest Rev Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah spoke to the girls at last Wednesday's event (March 13), which was organised by members of Christian Aid.
Dr Aboagye-Mensah spoke about the work he carries out in Ghana, where he is a Christian Aid partner.
