MY pay rise this year is 5 per cent. The increase in the number of police in West Mercia is 15 per cent. Increase in council tax to pay for them: 33 per cent.
Apart from the fact that West Mercia isn't exactly a hotbed of crime, the numbers don't add up very convincingly. Rip-off Britain seems to be alive and thriving.
