TREVOR Smith says Worcester people's apathy is to blame for the demise of the City carnival.

When the issue was brought up last summer, I put pen to paper with some ideas that I felt could help bring back the "good old days".

Among other things, I asked for his opinion on motorcycle grasstrack racing returning to Worcester after a lengthy absence.

Mr Smith was told of the possibility that a new club was to be formed in the area and was asked what he thought about running a grasstrack meeting in tandem with events surrounding the Carnival.

Soon after, the new club was up and running, and I wrote to Mr Smith again.

The word apathy sprang to mind when no reply was acknowledged on either occasion.

What about the grasstrack club? They hold the first meeting to take place in Worcester for 20 years this Sunday near Sixways, so I suggest that Mr Smith and his committee attend this event to realise the potential our sport could have offered our Carnival.

Claines, Worcester.
