Encouraged by the fine weather of the past few days, the West Malvern Quoit Club have commenced practice for the season. Last Saturday afternoon I observed a number of the members at play on their ground, which is contiguous to their headquarters, the Lamb Inn. The club last season had a good record and both it and the Newtown Club should figure prominently this year in the Worcestershire league.

The clerk read a letter he had received from Mr Berrington, stating his inability to attend the meeting. A discussion endured, during which some of the members were very firm in expressing their opinion of the way in which the sewer in Bye Street was laid, and it was the unanimous wish of the council that, as Mr Berrington was the engineer for the work, he should be present. Recommended for the Meritorious Service Medal in 1935, Capt Jack Lenham, licensee of the Fountain Inn, Malvern, was surprised and delighted recently to receive the coveted award. He had waited 17 years. Captain Lenham, who came to Malvern in 1946, has taken an active part in the Barnards Green branch of the British Legion. Malvern Gazette, March 21, 1952.

Congratulations to Ledbury Drama Group in their success of winning the David Garrick Cup at the County Drama Festival. The adjudicator, Mr John Warrington, placed first their performance of Yeats's Land of Hearts Desire, half a mark ahead of the Hereford YMCA players, last year's winners. A MOVE is afoot to revoke the planning permission granted in 1974 for residential development on 3 acres of land in Bosbury Road, Cradley. But it is believed the revocation could cost Malvern Hills District Council a six-figure sum in compensation. Malvern Gazette, March 24, 1977.

Vandals are undoing all the good work being done for Ledbury in the clearance of the old railway cutting from Bridge Street to Little Marcle Road. They have been ripping out newly planted trees on the open stretch restored by youngsters working under the Jobs Creation Scheme. Ledbury Reporter, March 24, 1977.
