GENIUS comes to the cinema at Malvern Theatres this week, in the form of Ron Howard's A Beautiful Mind (12).

Russell Crowe's performance as John Forbes Nash Jnr earned him a nomination for best actor at next week's Academy Awards ceremony, with co-star Jennifer Connelly poised to scoop the best supporting actress award.

The true story chronicles the meteoric rise of a maths prodigy able to solve problems that baffled the greatest of minds. Standing on the brink of international acclaim, paranoid schizophrenia took hold and put him through many years of struggling only to later receive the Nobel Prize.

A Beautiful Mind runs tonight (Friday) at 8.15pm and then until Thursday (March 28) at 7.30pm, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 3pm.

There is a second chance to see the acclaimed French comedy Amelie (15) at the Forum Theatre at 8.15pm on Wednesday (March 27). Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
