CLUB AC 30 lost ground on league leaders Bull Allstars as Morgan Aero 8 scuppered their chances of victory last Sunday in the Malvern Football League.

For the neutral this was an intriguing match to watch as both teams were evenly matched throughout this encounter and it took a 92nd minute equaliser from Club AC 30 to share the spoils at Lower Howsell Road.

A very tight opening half saw little chances until a Richard Bird free kick on 13 minutes tested Andy Hall and at the opposite end Arron Parr strike from 20 yards was thwarted by Steve Davis in the Morgan Aero 8 goal. Minutes later and Danny Morris struck a sweet volley for the visitors which hit the upright and Jamie Boswell's effort on 37 minutes brought a save from the visitor's keeper.

Arguably the best move of the match came as half-time was approaching, with Alan Berrow's pass reaching the feet of Jamie Boswell, his flick allowed the impressive Mike Griffin to run down the bye-line to cross a perfectly floated ball onto the head of Richard Bird. He thundered the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net to give Morgan Aero a 1-0 advantage at the interval.

Club AC 30, needing a win to bolster their championship credentials, made two substitutions at the break with Jason Payton Smith and Nick Kendrick introduced. However it was Morgan Aero 8 who had some excellent periods on the ball with again Richard Bird causing a menace upfront and Jordan Miller making some important inroads into the visitor's defence.

Jon Hayward for Club AC 30 at time showed his trickery on the ball however Matt Isley and Alan Berrow were a match for many of the attacking moves by the visitors.

Ten minutes before the end and the game started to increase tempo with Club AC 30 powering forward. Davis made a save from Jon Hayward and at the other end Andy Hall made a crucial double save from Richard Bird as gaps appeared in the visitor's defence.

An Arron Parr corner was headed over by Dave Jones on 84 minutes and with the Morgan Aero 8 holding on for the victory, one last effort from Club AC 30 saw the ball float inside the six yard area and with Steve Davis stretching from the resultant header, Tony Rees sneaked in to grab a point for the visitors.

Club AC 30 will now be hoping Morgan Aero 8 can take points off leaders Bull Allstars when they meet on March 31 at Ross Road, Ledbury.

In the only other League fixture of the day Bell Inn 98 continued their good run of form as they triumphed 4-1 away at the Brewery. New signing Peter Boyle again was a goalscorer along with Neil Davis and Paul Allen. They were aided by an own goal to accumulate their fourth and Brewery were thankful for a Mark Herbert effort as consolation in a disappointing result.

In the Worcester Royal Infirmary Sunday Minor Cup Old Bush Willie Thornes bowed out at the Quarter-Final stages with defeat at the hands of Alvechurch Sports and Social and in the U18s Youth Competition semi-finals Welland lost to Redditch United 6-1.

Malvern Town, however, came away from Church Hill United with a 3-2 win in the competition to reach their third final of the season.
