WORCESTER Nomads dented the title claims of Droitwich Spa 'A' with a tight two-wicket win in the Worcestershire Cricket Board Sunday Indoor League at Perdiswell.

Tight bowling from Kieran Rees (1-13) and Malcolm Jones (1-20) restricted Droitwich to 66-5 with Adrian Field (19no), Ian Duggan (15), Gareth Thomas (10) and Neil Davies (10) making most of the runs.

Nomads had to battle but Rees led the way with 24 and Derek Austen (15no) steered them home with three balls to spare. Duggan (2-13) was the best bowler, supported by Thomas (1-30).

Worcester easily beat Broadwas by five wickets. Broadwas did not hit a boundary against tight bowling and superb fielding as they made 49-4, Russell Knight top-scoring with 10 and Phil Knight the pick of the bowlers with 1-13.

Rich Franklyn (25 retired) and Mitch Fowles (15) then helped lead Worcester home with more than six overs to spare.

Matches tomorrow (Sunday): 8pm Ombersley v Chaddesley Corbett; 9pm Alvechurch v Droitwich 'B'.

n In the Wednesday League, Old Vigornians beat Avoncroft by four wickets.

Jon Bird (29no) and Rob Holden (28no) helped Avoncroft to 83-4 with support from Anthony Pittam (11), James Bader taking 1-17.

OVs reached their target with five balls to spare through James Mills (25 retired), Dave Mendham (20no) and Colin Cole (15). Andy Pittam (1-17) and Paul Athey (1-16) were the best bowlers.

Cutnall Green strolled to a six-wicket victory over Droitwich 'C' after dismissing their opponents for 58, of which Brian Gunston made 30.

Neil Fletcher took 2-11 for Green and then hit 25 retired with support from Charles Dauncey (12no) as victory was secured with almost five overs to spare.
