MR Lazenby (You Say, March 11) introduces an interesting slant on the debate over Europe by suggesting Christianity as a way forward.
However, this concept is not a new one: Kaiser Wilhelm II said "... after the elimination of the British and the Jews... the result will be a United States of Europe ... the hand of God is creating a new world ... a United States of Europe under German leadership."
To anyone with Christian persuasions I commend the best-selling paperback, now in its second edition, The Principality and Power of Europe, by theologian Adrian Hilton.
Lord Harris of High Cross, founder member of the Institute of Economic Affairs, is quoted as saying "I strongly commend this rare combination of Christian insight and thorough grasp of the mixed, muddled and even murky forces behind the drive towards European Union."
I think Mr Lazenby is correct when he suggests the issue of Europe is not based only upon "political allegiances".
