AN ARMED robber burst into a city garage, threatened staff with a knife and demanded money.

But the male cashier on duty at the Jet garage on Malvern Road, Lower Wick, remained unruffled, and the man fled empty-handed at around midnight.

The raider, described as white, 5ft 6ins tall, large build with shaven brown hair, made his escape in a red car being driven by a second man.

He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black and white tracksuit trousers and white trainers.

The raid follows another armed robbery at the BP service station on Whittington Road in January.

Police are still hunting a man who pulled out a small gun from a canvas holdall and demanded money from a female worker.

She was not physically hurt but was shaken by the experience. It happened on Thursday, January 30, at around 8pm.

The robber was described as white, around 6ft tall and was wearing a black woollen, bobble hat and dark-coloured coat. Police are not linking the two cases.

On Thursday, February 28, an armed robber struck at the Co-op shop in Lichfield Road, Ronkswood, moments after cash and phone cards were stolen from the One Stop store in Brickfields Road, Brickfields.

No one from the Jet garage was available to comment on last night's incident as the Evening News went to press.
