OFFICERS dedicated to catching litter droppers and irresponsible dog owners have been given specialist training to ensure offenders are brought to book.

Redditch Council has just taken on two environmental health enforcement officers responsible for tackling litter and dog fouling across the town.

Environmental health manager Steve Webster said the officers were now geared up to crack down on litter and dog fouling following a seminar at Arrow Valley Countryside Centre last week.

Anyone who does not pick up after their dog fouls will get a £50 on-the-spot fine or up to £2,000 if the case goes to court.

People are being asked to report anyone they see setting fire to dog bins because three have been destroyed in the last two weeks.
