ROVERS Sunday made it a cup treble for the season as they claimed the Advertiser/Messenger cup with a 5-2 defeat of Bromsgrove Town at Redditch United's Valley Stadium last Sunday.

Rovers, also winners of the Bridgwater Cup and LMS Shield this term, were a goal down at one stage but turned things around with a double each for Nick Lawley and Stuart Gafney.

Neither side created much early on but it was Bromsgrove Town who scored against the run of play on 25 minutes. Iain Main broke free down the right, cut inside and got a lucky rebound off a defender before slotting the ball under Brent Burford.

Town then went from 1-0 up to 3-2 in a crazy five minute spell before half time.

Rovers levelled things up on 40 minutes with Nick Lalwey's penalty giving Marc Wright no chance in Town's goal.

Two minutes later it was 2-1 and only 60 more seconds had elapsed before Sunday made it three with the best move of the match. This time, Lawley sprinted to get on the end of a right wing cross and head firmly home.

Town pulled one back right on half time, just two minutes later, when Stuart Eades went over in the penalty area and, following some heated debate, Scott Gaffney scored from the spot.

Seven minutes into the second half and Sunday regained their two goal advantge when Gafney got on the end of another useful cross to head past Wright.

Sunday had the game sown up and never looked in danger of conceding another. Indeed, the closest Town came was Tony Woodward's cross that was cut out by Burford.

Rovers left it until two minutes from time before adding the fifth. Wright misjudged a bounce in the penalty area and saw the ball loop over his head to provide the easiest of tap ins.

In division one, Ringspanners and New Olympic drew 3-3, a result that probably ends any faint New Olympic title hopes.

Victoria Barnt Green's good form continued with a 3-0 win over Crabmill, coming on the back of a midweek win against title favourites Rovers Sunday.

Southside United won their division two double-header against Rovers Sunday Reserves. Marlon Knight hit three goals over the two games for Southside.

A fantastic end to the season is in store in division three. Cofton Falcons defeated Crown Inn 3-1 while Victoria Barnt Green Reserves still have to face Cofton and all can still win the title.

Elsewhere, Blackwell mauled Kimal Athletic 8-0 and Red Lion Hearts went goal crazy at Star and Garter, coming away 10-1.
