DEAR EDITOR -- Much as Bromsgrove District Councillor Peter McDonald (Lab-Uffdown and Waseley) is admired for his efforts on part of the A38 in Rubery, when is he going to recognise the on-going problem along New Inns Lane caused by football spectators's parking?
Traffic along New Inns Lane - including double decker buses - is forced to drive along the middle of the road not only on Saturdays and Sundays, but also on Bank Holidays and now on weekday evenings as well! Sometimes without any attempt to control the parking.
Everyone knows that 50 car parking spaces are going to be created on the recently fenced-in Reaside Junior School playing field since the junior football club concerned is not allowed by Bromsgrove District Council to park cars on The Meadow, which is now officially defined as a Public Open Space and therefore fully available for all local dog owners to use responsibly and for recreation.
How much longer is the dangerous situation along New Inns Lane going to continue for before something has to be done about it?
What is required are double yellow lines to make sure that the 50 car parking spaces are going to be used by football spectators; whether 50 car parking spaces are enough is debatable since the record number of cars on New Inns Lane was 91 last September!
