DEAR EDITOR -- I have lived in Droitwich for 35 years now and I have watched the erosion of our services until we have practically nothing left.

The rates have gone up year after year and our services have become less and less. There are no longer any police patrolling as there was years ago, when we had two on days and two on nights.

All the farms have been built on, when we were told it was all green belt land.

There is no more vetting of would-be tenants, no more street cleaning, vandalism is rife, and the list goes on and things are getting worse. All this since we joined with Pershore and Evesham to form Wychavon.

Our councillors have no say over the running of our town. For instance the last newsletter from Wychavon to all tenants was, that Pershore and Evesham had just had grants of £550,000 each for local amenities. Droitwich had nothing, and at a time when the adventure playground is being closed through lack of funds.

The High Street is a joke as a pedestrian area, people are more likely to be crippled walking along it.

The First Midland Red should be better called the Last Midland Red, as far as Droitwich is concerned. It is the worst bus service in the county.

If you miss the 2.30pm bus from town, the next one is 4.15pm. The maximum stops these buses do is six and they can't even get their times right.

The only councillor to try and improve the service is John Cook and his efforts are even thwarted by his own party, who don't seem to care. And what did we have prior to the elections? Peter Pinfield's photograph appears on the front page of the local paper together with the caption, "£9m for the Canal Restoration Project" as though he was responsible for getting the money. Where were the people who did persevere for it?

Some councillors even have the gall to say the streets are cleaned regularly, how absurd that they contradict the people who live here, who know the place is filthy.

The CCTV cameras are a nonsense. Teenagers still cycle and skateboard through the shopping precinct and there has not been one prosecution. One of these days someone is going to be seriously hurt by these idiots.

All in all this town has had a raw deal under Wychavon and its high time our councillors did - something to rectify the situation (some hope).
