DEAR EDITOR --I should imagine all the voters and ratepayers of Droitwich are so happy that a warehouse is to be built next to the DFS store -- after all there is only a quarter of a million square feet of empty warehouses on the Hampton Lovett industrial estate.

Droitwich could have ended up with something useless being built there, like a small theme park, an adventure playground, a leisure park, community housing, cinema, supermarket, theatre, B.M.X. and skate board complex, mini-golf, swimming pool, an underground car park like the one at the new flats in town, or even a zoo to house some of our wonderful councillors. They could teach the ostriches a thing or two.

So what happens to 225,00 square feet of empty warehousing?

We get more. As for a supermarket being built in town, other towns get something to compensate the community, such as schools being built, scout huts, a library, covered shopping areas and hundreds of other useful buildings.

What does Droitwich get? New signs.

Well done councillors you know how to help the community whose votes you rely on. Who benefits from all this?
