AUSSIE star Dan Fredrick returned figures of 2-40 off 18 overs on his competitive Redditch debut as the Bromsgrove Road side opened with a winning draw against Pelsall.

The result sees Redditch in mid-table ahead of Saturday's trip to Shifnal (1pm start) and signalled a promising start for the new overseas player in a rain-affected match.

Pelsall, taking first innings, lost two early wickets then a stand of 86 by Granger (46) and Clarke (61) gave them a base to post 168-8 off their 55 overs.

The wicket takers were John Lostitch 3-17, Fredrick, and Nev Mason 1-31, including an excellent run out effected by Phil Tongue.

In reply Redditch were in trouble at 17-3 then the rain caused a 53-minute delay, to leave them to make 120 to gain the winning draw off 39 overs.

Brian Powell (21) and Chris Gibson (31) showed excellent form and with a late flourish by Nev Mason (15 no) Alan Houghton (12) and Geoff Eley gave Redditch an unlikely winning draw.

Redditch are without Jeff Russell on Saturday.
