GREEN-fingered Alcester residents who think they have the best kept gardens in town are being invited to enter them in a competition organised by Alcester in Bloom.

In previous years a team of 28 judges has toured the town looking at all 7,000 houses but in a bid to scale down costs this year the committee has decided to judge only those gardens which have been put forward.

Just four judges will be employed to pick out the best displays in a number of categories including Best Kept Garden, Best Frontage, Hanging Baskets and Youth Projects.

The winners of each category will receive a trophy, which they can keep for a year.

Judging will take place during July, and anyone wanting to enter should contact the Alcester in Bloom chairman Maggie Payne on 01789 762577 before the end of June, or fill in the form below.

Among the fundraising events lined up for Alcester in Bloom is a concert on May 23 when the Arrow Valley Brass Band performs at St Nicholas Church. Tickets cost £6, to include coffee, and are available from Mrs Payne.
